Two people were killed when a private Cessna airplane suffered a catastrophic failure during takeoff from the Huntsville airport just before lunchtime on September 6, 2023.
We have learned that the 2 people killed were Father and Son whose names have been released as Ethan Bishop who was the pilot and his father, Elijah Bishop, who was the co-pilot of the Cessna 150-K
Initial reports said a plane had crashed at the end of the runway and that two people were trapped in the wreckage. Huntsville Fire department, Walker County EMS, Texas DPS, WCSO and HPD all responded to the incident. upon arrival they stated that one person was killed in the crash, and we later learned that another had passed while en-route to the local hospital.
A Med Evac helicopter was initially called but was later cancelled en-route.
Texas DPS and the FAA are currently investigating the incident.
