On Sunday 9/10/2023 at approximately 3:02pm a call for assistance was broadcast to the Walker County Sheriff's deputies in regard to a high-speed chase entering the county on HWY 19 from Trinity County.
Deputies quickly responded and joined the chase. Officers were reporting that the 2004 Chevrolet pickup was reaching speeds of 110 MPH and at one point started going the wrong way on HWY 19 narrowly missing innocent civilians.
Approximately 7 minutes after the chase entered the county the suspect vehicle lost control [possibly due to officer interference] and rolled several times near the Lucky 19 Brewing Company, which is approximately a half mile north of I-45. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and took the suspect into custody.
Huntsville Fire, Walker Co EMS and LifeFlight were summoned to the scene, LifeFlight was cancelled en-route, and the suspect was transferred by ground to the hospital.
We are unaware of the suspects identity, current condition or why he evaded officers.
